Population Council job vacaancy in Kenya


Research Uptake Manager

The Population Council is seeking a creative and dynamic individual to support the uptake of research findings generated by two ongoing projects: STEP UP (Strengthening Evidence for Programming on Unintended Pregnancy), and a regional network of researchers and program implementers dedicated to improving the evidence-base on sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) programming in sub-Saharan Africa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall implementation of the research uptake strategies for STEP UP and the Africa Regional SGBV Network.
  • Coordinate implementation of the Research Uptake strategies for STEP UP and the Africa Regional SGBV Network, including communication and dissemination.
  • Work closely with STEP UP partners to develop and maintain a system for routine monitoring of changes in policy and practices for FP and safe abortion across STEP UP priority countries.
  • Maintain a database of all reports, materials, journal articles published and other products generated through STEP UP and the Africa Regional SGBV Network.
  • Monitor and document the impact of project activities on decision making for programming and policy, including case studies of success stories and preparing project news.
  • Manage the design and production of communication materials by all partners in the two projects.
  • Review and revise content for each project website and incorporate new evidence generated.
  • Provide support to staff and partners in the production of study-specific reports, synthesis briefs, and manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals.
  • Coordinate and support preparation of yearly network/partner meetings, as well as abstract submissions, posters and presentations for conferences.
  • Prepare draft annual donor reports.
  • In collaboration with project directors, design and implement a system for monitoring and evaluating STEP UP’s research uptake strategy.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a communications-related topic.
  • Strong experience in coordinating partnerships and networks with a range of national and international NGOs.
  • Demonstrated strong writing and editing skills in English essential, including ability to translate, summarize and communicate research findings (quantitative and qualitative) into non-technical language for decision-makers and the general public.
  • Working knowledge of French preferred
  • Expertise in management of website content essential; experience with website design is an advantage. Willingness to travel up to 30% time.
