Program Description:
The Research Care and Training Program (RCTP) is collaboration between the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and University of Washington (UW).
RCTP is seeking motivated individuals to fill the following vacancies in Prevalence and Impact of Alcohol Use in Patients Enrolling in HIV Care (PIAUPEHC, “Alcohol & HIV Study”), an East African International Epidemiologic Databases to Evaluate AIDS (IeDEA EA) Project
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the study in line with Kenyan/ KEMRI and US/UCSF laws, regulations and standards
Ensure that adequate systems, personnel and necessary resources are in place to conduct the study
Train and supervise Data Manager and Research Assistants who conduct study informed consent procedures and AUDIT interviews at health facilities in Lumumba Health Centre and Suba District Hospital (SDH)
Coordinate and participate in Study Activation trainings for health facility staff in Lumumba and SDH
Work with the Data Manager to ensure accurate and timely collection and cleaning of study data
Work with Research Assistants to ensure study participant tracing is conducted and findings are documented well in study tools
Provide regular reports and communications regarding study progress to Study Investigators
Function as on-site investigator of record for purposes of communication with the IRB
General oversight of conduct of research protocols
Ensure that all study participants in need of interventions related to alcohol use are referred appropriately for management
Key Requirements:
Minimum of Diploma in social sciences, Public Health, Statistics or related field from a recognized university (Degree is preferred)
At least 2 years experience in a similar position for Diploma holders and at least 1 year experience for Degree holders
Must be computer literate. Able to monitor, gather and evaluate information of broad scope and complexity
Have significant research management (public health or clinical studies) experience with superb leadership and communications skills
Familiar with qualitative research methods, including in-depth interviewing and focus group discussions
Able to provide daily direction to study staff in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and communicate with multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent computer skills
Position: Study Data Manager
Reports to: Study Coordinator
Location: Kisumu, Suba
Duration: Six Months

Job Summary: The data clerk will undertake a wide range of standard data processing tasks including data input and production of reports, deal with routine problems arising during the course of data handling and provide linkage between relevant departments and the data department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Capture and clean up data from the study participant forms
Ensure the study data is entered using the REDCAP and Quesgen system
Ensure study data is managed in accordance with study protocol and Ethical Review Committee standards.
Produce and send the reports to the study coordinator
Provide feedback to the data supervisor regarding quality assurance of data, detected deficiencies and corrective action needed in the database
Report faults on data processing equipment to the Study Coordinator
Maintain the filing system for the study data
Ensure confidentiality of the data
Ensure data backup is kept to avoid any data loss
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the study coordinator
Requirements
At least a Certificate in Computer Science or Information Technology
At least 1 year experience in handling data in a HIV/AIDS care set-up
Ability to work independently as well as in a team
