Chuka University College job in Kenya


Chuka University College (CUC), a constituent College of Egerton University, is undertaking several infrastructural development projects involving Buildings and associated Mechanical and Electrical Services, External Works, Road Works and Civil Engineering Works.

CUC invites applications from qualified persons for the position of Clerk of Works for renewable three-year contracts whose duties shall include but not be limited to:
  • Liaison with the Resident Engineer and/or Consultants on the general supervision and matters related to the projects.
  • Familiarize themselves on the projects’ information inclusive of Drawings, Estimates, Bills of Quantities, etc as well as the principles of the Designs, Specifications, Details and construction systems.
  • Maintain the day to day site diaries showing all records and make arrangements with the contractors for material tests at various stages of the construction progress.
  • Examine and ensure conformity to the specifications of all workmanship and materials and record the same appropriately.
  • Keep accurate records of all provisional items, depths of excavations, fills, etc and cross checking the same with the Drawings, Details and Bills of Quantities Specifications.
  • Compile Site Weekly Reports.
Qualification and Experience
  • Must be in possession of at least a National Diploma (Higher National Diploma will be an added advantage) in at least one of the following fields; Architecture, Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or any other related field of study attained at a recognized and reputable institution of higher learning.
  • Must have at least five (5) years post-graduate working experience gained in site supervision of Building and/or Civil Engineering works.
  • Must have Knowledge and Competency in Information and Communication Technology. Proficiency in the use of MS Project, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, etc will be an added advantage.
  • Must have a high level of integrity and prudence, ability to multitask and be able to perform under pressure.
  • Must possess good spoken and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
