Jobs for Upcoming USAID-Funded Programs in Kenya in 2012

DAI, a global consulting firm based in the United States, is seeking dynamic mid / senior level candidates for upcoming USAID-funded programs in Kenya in 2012 focused on increasing food security through comprehensive interventions to increase the productivity and profitability agricultural value chains and scaling-up private sector innovations in agriculture.

Candidates with managerial and technical experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

Value Chain Development

Requirements: minimum of 10 years of professional experience with an emphasis on value chain or sub-sector development including value chain analysis and overseeing value chain upgrading strategies to improve productivity and promote market development; experience working with associations, processors, agribusiness and smallholder farmers; in-depth knowledge of maize, staple crops and dairy value chains is highly desired

Agronomy/Ag Production

Requirements: 8-10 years of professional experience in agronomy/agricultural production in maize and staple crops, including ag extension, agricultural inputs, capacity building and ensuring best practices dissemination/adoption, and natural resources management/conservation practices

Ag Markets/Trade Linkages

Requirements: 8-10 production of professional experience in forging market linkages, including experience in access to finance, post-harvest handling/storage, and food safety standards; experience forging commercial linkages in agricultural markets and providing business development services to agribusinesses/agro-enterprises

Ag Innovation/Partnership Development

Requirements: 8 years of professional experience in a relevant technical area listed above; experience in taking agricultural technologies to scale is highly desired; experience in capacity building for smallholder farmers, organizations/associations, or local implementing partners to increase their technical and management skills and create sustainable market linkages is advantageous

Monitoring & Evaluation/Knowledge Management Specialist

Requirements: At least 7 years of professional experience in M&E, including developing and overseeing performance management plans, baseline studies, and leading field-based M&E systems for USAID-funded program

Finance/Grants/Operations Managers

Requirements: at least 5 years relevant work experience in financial management, accounting, grants, and operations on USAID-funded program; demonstrated understanding of USAID rules and regulations for project administration

General Requirements:
  • Experience working with international and/or regional NGOs, USAID and other donor-funded projects, and/or private sector actors (buyers, agribusinesses, associations, and financial institutions) is advantageous
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills is required and additional fluency in local dialects is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in related field is preferred
