We are seeking to recruit experienced and self- motivated individuals to fill existing vacancies within the Editorial department.

Security Affairs Specialist Writer

Job Ref: HR-SAS-02-12

You will need to be a competent writer in English; be an incisive analyst of military and defence affairs; have previously been employed in the Kenya military for at least five years; have a good understanding of East African geopolitical issues and an ability to establish contacts and sources in the security sectors in the wider Eastern African region.

A good collaborator and people-person, you must be able to travel widely, and to compile reports under tight deadlines. Journalism training will be provided to the successful candidate where necessary.

The position is at our headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

Religious Affairs Editor

Job Ref: HR-RAE-02-12

You will need to be a good writer in English, have a university degree, a background working in a civil society focusing on, among others, how religion interfaces with politics in Africa – especially in the Greater Horn of Africa and the Middle East – for at least 3 years.

You must have a strong interest and knowledge of current affairs and the ability to reach out to scholars and leaders of various religions.

In addition, you wil need to display a deep understanding of the history of cooperation and contest between Christianity and Islam and be grounded in the issues surrounding church vs state.

Nation Media Group will be looking to you to bring fresh insights into the use of religion for political mobilization, and the limits of that approach to organising public life.

You need to be personable, a good listener and avid follower of international news. Journalism training will be provided to the best candidate where necessary.
