Resident Journalism Advisor (RJA), Somalia
General Function:
Under the direction of the Country Director and in liaison with our partner radio based in Nairobi, the RJA is responsible for devising and implementing training workshops and mentoring
programs for radio journalists and producers working at local stations in Central Somalia.
The RJA will also contribute to media skills and literacy events for grass roots Somali civil society organizations to enhance their interaction with the local radio stations.
Workshops will be held in Hargeisa, Nairobi, Dhuusamareeb or Gurieel and the RJA will be required to work in all of these locations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Country Director on devising media trainings
- Liaise with partner media organization on training, skills and production objectives
- Organize and lead workshops and conduct trainings on all aspects of radio journalism and production
- Provide one-on-one mentoring in the field for radio staff producing programmes for the local stations
- Contribute to media skills and literacy events for local civil society organizations
- Monitor and report on progress of training and mentoring programs
Qualifications:
- Fluency in Somali and English
- Experience as a radio journalism and production trainer
- Computer literate and familiar with digital radio equipment and software
- Cultural and physical adaptability for lengthy periods of work in remote field locations in Somalia
- Ability to assess trainees skills and report on their progress and challenges
