Macdonald Mariga will miss Harambee Stars’ match against Togo match on Wednesday over accrued travelling expenses.
SuperSport.com can authoritatively report that Mariga will be travelling back to his Italian base in Parma on Tuesday night and has vowed not to play for the national team as long as long as Francis Kimanzi is coach.
Things turned murky after it became apparent the issue of the tickets might have been just a smokescreen to bigger issues that have been in place between the player and coach Kimanzi.
"Mariga is very annoyed and he will be travelling today back to Italy where he is expected to play the weekend matches. He feels coach Kimanzi does not respect him and does not want him in the team because at one time he plainly told him that if he was to make a choice between him and Oliech then he would drop Mariga," sources told SuperSport.com.
Contacted for comment, Kimanzi laughed off the accusations, "how can they say I don’t want Mariga and yet I have been calling him for every game since I took over. They should stop diverting attention and solve the issues affecting them rather than trying to find an excuse," Kimanzi told SuperSport.com.
Mariga had on Monday vowed not to play unless he was refunded back the money owed to him but it became apparent it the federation owes many more players who have used their money to pay for flight tickets.
