Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to Director, Professional Services, the incumbent shall assist the department in fulfilling the various roles as described below.
Provide overall leadership in the adoption and implementation of the International Financial Reporting and Auditing and Assurance Standards, Related Practice Statements, Guidelines and other papers issued by the International Accounting Standards Board and the International Federation of Accountants’ International Audit and Assurance Standards Board and the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board.
Spearhead ICPAK’s participation in the development of International Financial Reporting and Auditing and Assurance Standards, Related Practice Statements, Guidelines and other papers by ensuring that ICPAK actively and substantively contributes to relevant proposals, exposure drafts and discussion papers in a timely manner.
Monitoring the regulatory environment in Kenya so as to identify and contribute to any Laws and Regulations that may impact on financial reporting, management and auditing in Kenya.
Promote the implementation of International Financial Reporting and Auditing and Assurance Standards and other Guidelines, Policies, Laws and Regulations pertaining to the Financial Reporting and auditing;
Creating awareness of existing and new International Standards, Guidelines, Policies, Laws and Regulations among members of ICPAK:
Working with the Training and Development Department in identifying and developing training programs for such International Standards, Guidelines, Policies, Laws and Regulations:
Developing Guidelines, Financial Reporting and other Templates and providing any necessary technical support to facilitate better understanding and implementation of International Standards, Guidelines, Policies, Laws and Regulations by ICPAK members and stakeholders in financial reporting, management and auditing in Kenya.
Develop and implement strategies to ensure the success of the Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards.
Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with International Standard Setters as well as with regional and local stakeholders that impact on the financial reporting and auditing in Kenya.
Be innovative in identifying new trends and issues including undertaking research on issues impacting the financial reporting and auditing and proposing appropriate responses to such emerging trends and issues for the benefit of ICPAK members and the accounting profession as a whole.
Identify any matters of public interest arising from and impacting financial reporting and auditing and assisting in the preparation and dissemination of ICPAK position papers on such issues.
Act as the secretary to ICPAK’s Professional Standards Committee assisting in the preparation and implementation of the Committee’s Annual Work Plan designed to enhance financial reporting, management and auditing in Kenya as well as meet the needs of ICPAK members working in financial reporting and auditing.
Manage the departmental activities including development of departmental work plans and objectives, performance management and staff motivation.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
First degree in Accounting (Minimum Upper Division) from a recognized university
Masters Degree preferably in Accountancy, Finance and related field will be an added advantage.
Fully qualified CPA with ICPAK membership or eligibility to join membership prior to employment.
Work Experience
Minimum 5 years relevant experience preferably obtained from a medium to large audit firm
Excellent knowledge of various International Financial Reporting and Auditing and Assurance Standards
Very good management skills including ability to provide leadership and motivate a team
Must be computer literate and well conversant with current ICT
Excellent communication and report writing skills
The ability to work effectively under time pressure and constraints

Academic and Professional Qualifications

Fully qualified CPA with ICPAK membership or eligibility to join membership prior to employment.
Experience
Minimum 3 years relevant experience preferably obtained an auditing environment
Good knowledge of various International Financial Reporting and Auditing and Assurance Standards
