Our Client, the Brooke is the UK’s leading overseas welfare charity for working horses, donkeys and mules.
The Brooke has recently
established an East Africa Regional Office in Nairobi to develop and
implement country and regional strategies, support and monitor partners
and represent the Brooke within Kenya and the wider region.
We are seeking to recruit
well-organized, highly motivated and result-oriented individuals for
the following positions which will be based in Nairobi with regular
travel within the region and occasional wider international travel for
meetings.
1. Administrative and Finance Officer
Ref: AFO/01/2013
National appointment: Two years with possibility of extension
Key Tasks and Responsibilities;
- Operations & Administrative Management

- Coordination and Communications
Summary of Essential Qualifications
- First Degree (Bachelors) in business administration, finance and accounting or other related area of study.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in development sector such as NGO, with strong administrative and financial management experience
2. Animal Welfare Officer
Ref: AWO/01/2013
National appointment: Two years with possibility of extension
Key Tasks and Responsibilities;
- Animal Welfare
- Animal Health Service Training and Provision
- Partnerships and Networking
- Coordination and communications
Summary of Qualifications
- First Degree (Bachelors) in a relevant animal health/welfare discipline such as a veterinary degree.
- Minimum 3 years working with a development NGO, including programme development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
3. Community Development Officer
Ref: CDO/01/2013
National appointment: Two years with possibility of extension
Key Tasks and Responsibilities;
- Community Programme Development and Support
- Community Engagement and Empowerment
- Participatory Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation
- Coordination and communications
Summary of Qualifications
- First Degree (Bachelors) in a relevant community development studies or related social science field.
- Minimum 5 years working with an animal welfare/humanitarian/development NGO, with strong field practice community programme development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
4. Communications & IT Officer
Ref: CIO/01/2013
National appointment: Two years with possibility of extension
Key Tasks and Responsibilities;
- Advocacy and Influencing
- Communications Support and Management
- IT Support and Coordination
Summary of Qualifications
- First Degree (Bachelors) in Communications Studies, Public Relations, Development Studies (and IT Background) is required
- Minimum 3 years in Media, Public Relations or Communications
5. Driver
Ref: DV/01/2013
National appointment: Two years with possibility of extension
Key Tasks and Responsibilities;
- Driving
- Vehicle Maintenance
- Office and Field Logistics and Support
Summary of Qualifications
- A high school certificate / diploma or equivalent qualification
- Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the Kenya Government’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Minimum 5 years working in the development sector / NGO, with a clean driving record
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance procedures
- Possess a valid certificate of good conduct
