Programme Assistant – OSIEA Tanzania

We seek a dynamic, creative and committed programme assistant to ensure the smooth running of the Tanzania programme.
Reporting to the Country Manager / Program Officer, the position provides logistic, administrative and program assistance. Applicants must be Tanzanian nationals.

Reporting to the Country Manager / Program Officer, the position provides logistic, administrative and program assistance. Applicants must be Tanzanian nationals.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the smooth running of the Dar es Salaam office by providing logistic and administrative support to office staff and visitors, including scheduling meeting requests, answering inquiries, organizing travel arrangements, taking minutes, organizing conference meetings, and processing payment requests.
- Assist the programme to identify and assess potential grantees, finalize grant applications, track grant reports, maintain working relationships with grantees, and attend grantee events and site visits
- Ensure compliance with all legal and administrative requirements, including local authority licenses, registration requirements, etc.
- Support other Open Society Foundation programs regarding their interventions in Tanzania to maximize results and impact
Qualifications
- Good knowledge of democracy, human rights and governance issues in East Africa
- Minimum five years prior experience in an administrative/coordination role.
- Experience with proposal writing and review preferred
- Extensive computer skills (expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel and databases required) and ability to learn new software applications
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people
- Extraordinary initiative, creativity and capacity to think strategically
- Team spirit and respectful working and decision-making style
- Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail
- Integrity, diplomatic manner and professional discretion essential
- Willingness to travel as needed
