Engineering jobs at The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi,

The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, (AKUH,N) a premier tertiary teaching hospital, is fast growing with a network of over 30 multi-site medical centers in East Africa and a state-of-the-art Heart and Cancer Centre in Nairobi.

Applications are invited for the following positions:

Electrical Engineer

The Electrical Engineer must be safety oriented, and should have sound knowledge and hands-on experience in operation and maintenance of 11 kV and LV switchgear and distribution network, distribution transformers (> 2.0 MVA), standby diesel generators (> 1.5 MVA), electrical induction motors(> 250 kW), VFDs/VSDs, motor control gears, BMS / PLC, UPS’s, including signals such as fire alarm, access control and CCTV, etc. 
S/he should also be knowledgeable of relevant engineering / wiring standards, preferably IET/British Standards, in order to oversee day to day electrical works including testing and commissioning, PPM and contract / annual maintenance.

Applicants must have Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power and Electronics Option), with at least ten years’ of relevant hands-on experience, of which at least three years should be as an engineer responsible for operation and maintenance, focusing on safe, reliable and efficient, quality, cost effective and sustainable engineering solutions.

Knowledge of BMS, including exposure to “basic design calculation / planning of electrical system and project engineering” works will be an added advantage.

Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer must be safety oriented, and should have a sound knowledge and hands-on experience in operation and maintenance of utilities, plant and equipment such as steam boilers / system, rotating equipment such as air and vacuum compressors, water pumps, air handling units, laundry equipments, etc., and fire hydrant system. 
S/he should also be knowledgeable of relevant engineering standards in order to oversee day to day maintenance works of plant and equipment, including plant inspection, PPM / CBM and contract / annual maintenance.

Applicants must have Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with at least ten years’ of relevant hands-on experience, of which at least three years should be as an engineer responsible for plant maintenance and utilities, focusing on safe, reliable and efficient, quality, cost effective and sustainable engineering solutions. 
Applicants with HVAC background (500 kW and above), maintenance know-how of diesel engines of over 1000 kW (for standby generators) and basic design calculations / planning and project engineering of small scale projects will have added advantage.

HVAC Engineer

The HVAC Engineer must be safety oriented, and have a sound knowledge and hands-on experience of HVAC /refrigeration and air conditioning plant of 700 kW and above, including plant equipment such as Chiller, AHUS, FCUs, CAVs, VAVs, ducting, chilled and hot water system and HVAC controls. 
S/he should also be knowledgeable of HVAC standards, preferably ASHRAE, in order to oversee HVAC repairs and maintenance works, including testing, air balancing and commissioning, PPM / CBM and contract / annual maintenance.

Applicants must have Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferably with majors in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning), with at least ten years’ of relevant hands-on experience, of which at least three years should be as an engineer responsible for HVAC plant commissioning and maintenance, focusing on safe, reliable and efficient, quality, cost effective and sustainable engineering solutions. 
Applicants with exposure to basic system design calculation and project engineering, and / or maintenance of plant and equipment in addition to HVAC plant will have an added advantage
 
Applicants for the above three Engineers positions should be computer literate with excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills. 
S/he must be registered and/or eligible for registration with the Engineering Board of Kenya.
